used cylinders?

I am going to look at some used 3.2 cylinders. What should I be looking for.

Look for sractches, score marks, missing cooling fins etc.

Take a bore gauge if possible, and measure for roundness, and to see if they are in spec (wear)

Depends also on the pistons. Alusil pistons and Nikasil pistons cannot be mixed in the other type of cylinder. If in good shape you will still see the honing marks.

Bring a magnet. Nikasil cylinders will attract on the inner bore surface. Alusils will be non-magnetic.

What is your plan for these 3.2 cylinders?

Either Alusil or Nikasil will work. You will get them re-bored to 98 mm with fresh Nikasil plating.

Thanks for all the help. I bought the cylinders. There Mahle 98mm . They have no grooves or scraches but may need to be replated. I'll find someone to do an inspection that know more then I.
