Engine stand yolk

Is it a necessity to place the yoke on the oil cooler side of the case? I'm hanging a 2.2T on the stand but the yolk (5 arm) interferes w/the oil cooler and doesn't sit flat against the case. Is it Ok to bolt it on the opposite side of the case or should I remove the oil cooler and bolt the yoke on that side.

Are you splitting the case? Think that's what dictates which side you mount the yoke.

I'm not sure till I get into it. As long as the yoke is only bolted to one side, my question is...does it matter? Thanks for your time.

It will bolt to either side. It only matters which side if you plan to split the case.

So if I do end up slitting the case, does the yolk have to be bolted to the side w/ the oil cooler? I'm trying to understand why it matters?

Yoke, not yolk :-)

The oil pump attaches to the RH side of case, so the countershaft & chains must be installed there as well.
The engine internals are assembled on the RH side of the open case.

Agreed, it needs to be mounted on the right hand side of the case so that when you pull the left side off it leaves the pump and internals in place in the right side for proper disassembly.

Yoke, thanks I'll correct my posts...& thank you for the explanation. Much appreciated.

The factory tool bolts to either side of an assembled engine without interference. Some of the less expensive aftermarket ones interfere with the oil cooler. We have both and use the flat aftermarket ones mostly on gearboxes for this reason.

Yep, that's what I get for trying to save a hundred....I'll learn some day.
