Dry run to check valve/piston clearance question

Should I include the gaskets between the chain housing and case? This is just a dry run to check valve to piston clearance.

Along the same lines, do the cam cover plates inside the chain housings need their o ring and gasket too? Just trying to avoid ruining o rings and gaskets during the dry run.

Did you measure the deck height with gasket? Was it within Spec? How much did the head get cut down?

I'm not that far Jim. I'm just trying to figure out what I can leave out when I do my dry run to check piston/valve clearance. Like the cylinder tins, obviously don't need to put those in until the final assembly.

But I will measure deck height with my head gasket in. I think your 3.2 doesn't use a head gasket though, right? Wayne's book says to check deck height with the head gasket in the cylinder.

I think I still had my old one on when I did the test. I don't think it matters though.

If you are talking about the CE gaskets between the cylinders and heads, leave them out. They crush all the way so the heads hit the cylinders. You don't want to crush them before the final assembly
