Largest duration/highest lift regrind from Carrera 3.2 cams?
As the title says, how big can I go?
I have 993SS's (brand new WebCam) sitting on my shelf, but rather have GT2 Evo's or there about. Also, the LSA is a little too tight for me. Rather stay 113. Wondering how much "cam" I can get out of regrinding my 3.2's?? TIA |

drcamshafts.com used to have a bunch of footnotes/comments in one column of the cam listings on the website. those notes identified what each cam's details are. But I see he's removed that. Nonetheless John/camgrinder would have that information on the top of his head to share with you.

I had him regrind my original '87 3.2 cams into the DC-20 "Super C2" profile. He doesn't list that cam anymore. So i'll guess the DC-19 is the most aggressive he can regrind to? DC-19 is a bit more aggressive than 964.
With my cam, I recall it had a recommended 2.2-2.4mm lift/timing spec at TDC overlap which I posted here on the forums. That timing spec was pretty tight on piston-to-valve clearance so I had to back it down to 1.8mm in order to get ample clearance. I didn't want to pull the pistons out of the cylinders (I was just doing the valve guides at the time) and have them machined for valve reliefs. So I compromised on the cam timing.

I don't believe so. His 993SS has one degree more of lobe separation than the Carrera/SC cam and I don't believe you can modify lobe separation w/out making a new cam? I also don't think he simply renamed it because the timing lift spec. is different than the card I got with my DC-20 cams.
But who knows, maybe he just decided to tweak it a bit with an additional degree of lobe separation, and eliminate the DC-20 profile to be replaced by DC-993SS. And also change the recommended lift spec to make it work with stock pistons? Otherwise the question would frequently be, what's the difference between the DC-20 and DC-993SS I recall hearing in the past that the Web 20/21 was said to be their version of the 993SS.
