partially clogged injector... runs rich, or lean?
 

If you take out an injector and its spray pattern is off, or the little pintle doesn't vibrate, does that cylinder run lean, or rich?

I assume lean, correct? As I keep hearing that clogged injectors cause detonation...

But, when I think about it:

You are sending in fuel that's not fully atomized...so it doesn't all burn...so wouldn't that cause more fuel to leave the cylinder, causing the AFR O2 sensor to read it as "rich"?

I understand that if the injector is 50% blocked and 50% less fuel gets in, its "lean." But what if it simply isn't atomized well?

sounds like it would behave as if it were lean but register as rich at the o2 sensor. same as having unequal flow in the intake runners. which is why individual exhuast temp sensors on the header primaries are a good idea if you are running efi. By the way whats up with the weather up here it's march and there was driving snow this morning? I'm at point beach for a couple weeks.

I think the answer to your question is yes.
