Thank you for the replies. I checked my gauge that was in the car when I purchased it and the oil pressure gauge reads 0-70 PSI yet the PO had it paired to a 0-10 bar sender. Juergen, if your memory is correct, this helps to set my mind at a little more ease (the true pressure is more than I'm thinking).
At this point, I believe my best course of action is to buy a new 0-5 bar sender (5 bar = 72 PSI), for some peace of mind....and maybe a new gauge (0-80).

Yes, using a 10 bar sender unit on a 5 bar gauge is a problem (low pressure reading). But the real question is what the specified oil pressure is on the engine you are using. I just learned reading this tread that there are 911 engines that develop up to 10 bar pressure. If your engine is a 5 bar engine (like my 3.2L is), then you need to buy a 5 bar sender unit.
Your engine (at least mine does) should have a separate oil pressure switch operating the low oil pressure warning light. If your oil pressure gauge reads much less than 1 bar at idle, but the light doesn't come on, then one of the two devices is not working right (in your case probably the sender unit mismatch with the gauge).
