Found something as fun as my Carrera!
Well, I finally found something as fun as my 3,2L Carrera. I wanted to get a daily driver and was looking at a C2S 993. However, my wife insisted I buy something with a real back seat (I have too small kids (8,11) who play alot of sports). This car, although not as beautiful as my Carrera, is almost as fun to drive. The A/C and Heat work better and the seats are more comfortable. The M3 is much more raw/elemental than my 997 and has more trunk space. I chose the Competition Package with the NAV, sunroof and electric seat delete because it was more like my dream car, 997 GT3. Since the economy is so bad I thought I would inject some funds into the local area.
This is my economic stimulus package for the local economy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's a funny looking shift knob. Gross.
![]() The M3 is a great car. You're going to enjoy it all the way to jail. ![]() Seriously, though. That shift knob is atrocious. ![]() PS: You forgot the clutch pedal.

![]() More raw and elemental but you have the SMG... ![]() I suppose it is OK, Porsche went that route first and got it right the first time with PorscheDoppelKopplung Getriebe ![]() BMWs are cool for a family/stuff hauler but I think an M3 is about as practical as a 911SC as far as space. Neither has great back seats. ![]() While the 911 is my "Ultimate Driving Machine", the BMW is a nice car. I like the color.

Great car, you can do no wrong with the E46 M3(if properly maintained!!).
That will also be my next daily driver. I have a 330i with some Dinan mods now and was thinking of a used 996 or 997 if I could swing it. I decided with the age issues of the 996 engines lurking like a ticking time bomb and the fact I have three kids the M3 won out. See this thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=439936 Now only if I can afford the new M3 sedan....

Is an M3 back seat any different than any other E46 back seat. Reason why I am asking is my 325 sure has more room than my Carrera!

Same back seat as any 3 series of the same generation.

The 3-series coupes have a back seat large enough for an average adult, rather two adults.
The 911 only fits one adult if you spread out across the seats.
