Flex disk
Hello,
Just wondering if changing the propshaft flex disk (guibo) is a good diy project or one to leave for the pro's and if anyone has a good write up for doing it, is it worth changing the centre bearing while in there as well? I have loud knocking during gearchanges but nothing has been inspected yet. Cheers Graeme1975 |
It is a good DIY but not an easy one. You have to drop the exhasut from the headers back then drop the drive shaft but not remove it completely.
The bolts on the header flange are tough, expensive and can break, the bolts on the guibo are also tough to break loose. Use lots of PB BLaster, put it on the exhaust bolts a day before. Probably need one or two 16mm box wrenches which are not in every toolbox. Check out the bolt size on the guibo before you start. If you do your own brakes I'd say you can do this job. |
Here is a good DIY article with pictures! http://www.bokchoys.com/differential/diy_guibo.htm
