328xi fuel pump issue
I have a 2010 328xi with a fuel delivery issue. Last summer, I had the fuel pump failure message, car on a lift icon, and the car died. If I waited till it cooler down, it would start right up. This happened twice, and the dealer replaced the pump both times (under warranty), and it was good all winter. Fast forward to yesterday, the weather turned hot, 90+,and I was driving on the highway, turned on the a/c and the fuel pump light come on. I was able to get down an off ramp, and push the car to a commuter lot. Hung around for a few hours, and after everything cooled down, the car started right up and I was able to drive home.
Car has 125k miles, and the problem defineattely has a heat component. Dealer thinks it's another pump, I have my doubts.. Looking for some other possibilities before I replace the pump. Does the 2010 have a fuel relay, or is it computer controlled. |

Hello and welcome to the forum! I would perform a fuel delivery system test. Check fuel pressure, volume and quality. If you have no pressure, check if the pump is getting power and ground to run. Also, check if the module is trying to activate the pump. I've included a helpful guide below.
