2011 328i X Drive 6 Speed Manual
Last 5 weeks or so, 17 mile drive to work mostly intestate-80 mph speeds. Runs perfectly for morning drive. 17 miles back home afternoon, 80 mph speeds. The very 1st stop light I hit; the rpm's rev to 1100, then slowly return to 600. 5 lights to get home and engine continues to rev rest of way home. Does not, run perfectly...
Salt Lake temperature of course a little cooler in the AM this time of year, but the afternoon temp isn't a huge change (maybe 10-15 degrees most days) Data- Purchased with 30,000, now 72,000 Service light comes on for 50-70 miles, then off for 50-70 miles Codes- P1006, P2096 I pulled out and cleaned the VALNOS solenoids (they looked bran new to me) With this pattern, would you assume I need to tackle the Eccentric sensor? Or is there something else going on? |

The P2096 code refers to your fuel mixture being too lean. I would address this issue first and see what difference it makes with the overall drive. If you're needing/going to replace the sensor, take a look at the link below to our site's DIY tech article on the procedure. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Ok rather than start replacing stuff, I had BMW run diagnostics ($150.00). They say replace the ESP Sensor first. I have seen a lot of success stories in this forum and trust its advice. So, do you still think I should tackle the P2096 first?

By the way, if you do suggest the P2096 first, is there a link for this project I can check out?

I am very curious about the effects of your work on the designs, it promises to be very interesting. Insert photos as it will be ready

P2096
Replaced eccentric valve sensor it was leaking oil. The P2096 is now off and on, Bank1 post cat, fuel too lean. Am I now to assume it is definitely the Oxygen sensor post cat?

328ix 6 speed
Help! Replaced Eccentric shaft sensor, and Bank1 oxygen sensor#2. Went 5 days no issues and no SES light, as soon as outside temp raised above 55/60 degrees, same issue. Rough idle at first stop light from exiting interstate.
What is it about the higher temp that is causing this rough idle? What do I attack next? Thanks |
