530i faulty error messages bad ground

Lots of error messages
transmission failure
ABS failure
dynamic drive failure
seat belt not engaged
and more

Installed a new "Micro Power Module" in the trunk ( no water problems)
Same error messages
2004 530i starts and drives
Seems that the automatic transmission does not shift properly

Is this a bad ground(s) problem
Which ground connections are suspect ???

It could be, but before checking grounds you might want to ensure your battery and alternator are in top condition. A weak battery or alternator can cause the symptoms you've listed.

Are you also getting a CEL ? If so, it may be a good idea to have the codes read - this will give you a lot of great info as to where to start troubleshooting.

Update

The problem was a bad voltage regulator on a Valeo alternator

The voltage output was at times much too high (17+ volts)

Replaced the voltage regulator with an aftermarket model
that had a much larger heat sink

Just completed a 3,000 trip with no control module faults

I suspect the Valeo voltage regulator has a weak design fault

If it goes again, I would replace the alternator with a Bosch unit
