'95 525i OBC stalk question

Just acquired a '95 525i in great running condition and I am getting up to speed with the OBC functions. Here is what is going on. The OBC display below the gauges does not activate when the stalk control is pressed in. However, it does come on when I change radio stations (indicates the new station briefly), when the check control button is depressed (check control OK), and when the car is first started indicating the service status. I drove another 5 series (530i) and the stalk did function the display.

Is this a matter of programming or possibly a bad switch? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

DT

I did try the dash button and Check Control OK does come up. This car had a cell phone at one time but is now disconnected. I have heard this will cause a problem but I am not 100%. All of the plugs and cell phone jack are intact so I am wondering if I can jump them to complete the circuit. Any ideas?

Thanks

DT
