Hillclimbs?
I just thought that I'd mention a form of motorsport that I really have enjoyed the last few years. Hillclimbs are very popular in England and Europe and have a long history over here, but except for Pike's Peak, most people do not know much about them. I drive a vintage Formula Ford Caldwell D9, but there are classes for almost anything on four wheels. I've autocrossed, vintage raced, drag raced, and run shifter karts, but I get the biggest rush out of hillclimbing. There is nothing like flying up a mountain road, on the limit, on cold tires. I really like the record setting aspect of it too. Class records are kept for each class on each hill. The groups that run these events are great and make every effort to welcome new drivers. Here are some website to hillclimbs in the Mid-Atlantic states that I attend. Check out the photos and forums: www.blueridgehillclimb.org www.pahillclimb.org www.svvscc.org
