1974 2002 bmw search

Where could I start searching for a car I use to own it was a 1974 2002. I also have the vin number. I tried carfax but that didn't come up with anything, I also did a vin search but with the 2002's the vin was only like 8-9 digits long not 16 or 17 like today's vin numbers. Any help would be appreciated!

You should find a club and ask around. I'm sure there are plenty of 2002 clubs around. Also check the historical racing groups, they could probably get you going the right direction too.

Wow, there were a ton of these cars made, and not all of them were kept in the best condition. Perhaps someone friendly in your DMV can search your local state records?
