Muffler question

I bought an '88 528e w/ an aftermarket muffler on it. It's very loud, too much for a 72mi. a day commute.

I'm going to have the old muffler put back on, until I upgrade to a better aftermarket system.

Is $60 too much to pay a muffler shop to weld it back on? They're throwing in the piping they may need for free...

For some reason I was thinking it'd be cheaper than that.

Or is that pretty much the going rate these days?

Thanks

Chip
