Neck soaker? I just googled it and didn't get any results steering me to a site that sells them. Any ideas on where I may find them in So. Cal? Thanks!

I’ve one upped the wet tee shirt approach by modifying a camping towel, found at any camping supply store, with a slit and hole for your head. It holds a great deal of water and will keep you cool much longer than your shirt.

I got one of those "neck soakers" things at Big 5 sporting goods, of all places. Rode from LA to Phoenix across the dessert last June, and it really worked well. My jacket was a Belstaff Airflow, which has zippered vents on the arms, chest and back. I only wished my pants and boots had some vents too.
The neck thing stays wet for hours, unlike a soaked T-shirt (yuck). I also used a camelback, which is probably the most important thing of all. Its one thing to sweat a bit, quite another to get dehydrated. |

If you want to go really over the top, you could try one of these ...
from http://www.freshairsystems.com/cool.htm As an added bonus, you could keep your lunch in the little cooler.

Helimot (in CA) sells something called a "cool shirt" that is a synthetic mesh w/ thick ribs. Creates a space between your leathers and you that allows sweat to evaporate. I wear one directly under my leathers in hot weather and with a regular tee over the cool shirt in cool/cold weather. Helps a lot in hot and in cold.
