Performance Numbers
Am asking if anyone can comment. I have some stopwatch numbers, admittedly non-scientific. My question is, are these numbers typical of an S? Slower, faster, just average ho-hum?
30mph to redline in 2nd gear -- 3.38 sec. 50mph to redline in 3rd gear -- 5.54 sec. 6th gear, 80mph to 7,700rpm, 12.71 sec. |
Phoenix, I'm glad you are happy with your module, but this kind of performance data seems pretty worthless, i'm not attacking you either, but you need to slap that thing on a dyno with before and after module runs, and do the partial throttle thing if thats where the benefit is. Asking somebody how fast their bike is from 30mph to redline and then showing your data to the 1/100 sec is kind of ludicrous. sorry man, find a dyno

I wanna see Shreddr's before/after dyno numbers too ;)[/QUOTE] i won't have before, but it turns out the guy who changed the tires on my BST's has a dyno and is some famed local tuner, (Ron from WCW, Washington Cycle Works, every hear of him Roger?) so i will have after mod data, and we can compare it to an average of stock R12 dyno runs as an indicator of what the mods did. |

In case anyone has a data-acquisition equipment and the standard 5" wide rim with half worn 170/60-17" tire & 2.75 final drive.

If you can provide an accurate GPS reading in 6th gear at any specific RPM, I will provide a chart depicting your rpm vs mph in every gear. It would be best if you can provide two or three data points for example: 6th gear 3000 rpm GPS reading = 53mph 6th gear 4000rpm GPS reading = 70mph 6th gear 5000 rpm GPS reading = 88mph Of course, I would also need to know if you have changed the final drive ratio or any of the transmission gear ratios. This offer is open to anyone else, also. |
I have some gear/speed converters, but I can't get the 1100s to work without inputting a primary reduction. The input shaft gear does look a lot smaller than the gear it drives, and my calculations need it to be about 1.9 ish, assuming a tyre circumference of 78.6".
Thoughts, or better still, knowledge? |
bacn5: Will see if I can borrow a GPS. Nothing changed mechanically. Am running a new 180/55/ZR17 tire on the rear. As I mentioned some time ago, my access to a dyno is limited, and the two I know about in Dallas who can test bikes make no compensation for the modified air intake. Fans to cool the engine is all. Once place (140 miles one-way) I called three times took over a week to call me back, would have to leave the bike with them at least a week before they could get to it. No thanks, a long time to have something happen. Plus two long round trips smack in the heart of Dallas traffic.

Dyno Limitations!

Thanks Robert, will check it out. FYI, have addressed my other issue. Based on a 9.5% increased fueling differential, I worked out a formula to determine a new base setting, which meant turning the setting down. A quick high-speed run and plug check yesterday (cold, thank goodness for my polypropelene long johns) afternoon showed the plug to be in the neighborhood of what you like. Will tweak it from there.
