Must get a few. I was eating breakfast in Burnsville at a little diner and struck up a conversation with a couple of local EMT's. I asked them about NC 97 and they said that DB roads was also a local favorite, and that they hauled several riders a year off the road. I commented that it sounded like my kind of road, technical and twisty and assured them I would not need their services. Also kidded them that it sounded like they were slow, and were trying to drum up some business.

Just a note for my Yankee brethren . BBQ is not just a style of food preparation in the South. BBQ is actually a FOOD. Here in the frozen North we talk about BBQing but it is really just throwing slabs of meat on a grill, not so down below the Mason Dixon.

BTW guys,
Appalachian Crown Run denotes a single ride, IMO you need an overall Crown name to encompass all subsequent Crown rides, for example The Eastern Crown, The Lost Crown, or my favorite the Thomas Crown,( i guess thats been taken )Jeff

If your religion doesn't allow you to eat pork, you'll have a meager existence in the southeast.

I've been absent from this board for quite awhile, excluding a quick glance from time to time. I've read the thread but couldn't get a real sense of what the original Crown Run is about. Would this be an open event or exclusive? Just raised my curiousity since I live less than 10 minutes from where the Skyline Drive ends and the Blue Ridge Parkway begins (Afton Mt, VA).
Any info would be appreciated.

Egg celent Idea. The Northern tier of the east coast has already initiated with what became the weak sauce tour.
I've been on two group rides with Pelican Types, Also enjoyed Rob St. John's hospitality. Lake George and the Adirondacks are great. Also would enjoy the Catskill and Appalachian areas. Someone soon is going to mention BM natiols the Moa first and The RA second . I think I'll go to the RA. May even get to Daytona in a few weeks |
