The two K's

Well, I already told that I had bought a new bike and it was time for some nice pictures. However, since I got it, my dad got a new bike too. He got a great deal on a very nice low mileage 2006 K12GT. After our trip to the North Cape this year, dad really got in the swing of riding again, but trips like that he really didn't want to do on his 27yo GoldWing anymore. Well, that and the totally upright position kills his back on long days, so he wanted something with a little lean forward.

It's a full option bike.

In other words, 150hp/130Nm, ABS, ESA, cruise, heated grips, heated seat, the works.

Nicely together

A cute couple.

K-S, meet K-GT, K-GT, meet K-S

The pretty rear wheel of the S.

Totally different, yet very similar and going in the same direction.

Bring on spring and the fresh riding season! It's gonna be a great time riding together again. Next year's destination: Russia.

Yeah, a few years he was all talk about selling his bike and quit riding. Then my mom was diagnosed with cancer and eventually died last year after a 3 year struggle. He took care of her at home, right to the very last day, never leaving her side. This year, I was going to the North Cape and I basically told him he was going too and not accepting no for an answer. He always wanted to go, but could never get the time to do it, but this year he was going. No discussion.

End of the story: he and I had such a good time, he really got back into riding and we're planning lots of long trips to distant places. And I am going to enjoy every minute of it. When I bought my new bike, he was like I should get me something more modern and better too for these trips. He's 66 and I just love we're still able to share these things.

That's great. How old is he?
And how much did you pay for your S if you don't mind?

I wish I could have done that with my dad, he hated motorcycles. Rode on my bike once, that would have been a 74R90S on the Ortega highway#74, claimed I tried to kill him. Wasn't so.

Anyway, that should be a trip to remember , good for you!! BTW good looking K bikes.

He's 66 cage. I paid just under 10 large for the S, but this being Holland that's not much of a reference for you I am afraid. Especially if you convert euro to usd. But here, that would be a very good deal as most of this year and mileage go between 13-14k.

Hehehe.. he got me into it. I rode pillion with him from the day I could reach the pegs. Which in my case was about 4. I had my own helmet, and he would drop me off at kindergarten on his way to work. I thought I was the coolest kid on the block. I probably was. First international trip at about 11. It was never a question of IF I was going to ride, only how fast I could get my license when I was legally able to.

Very nice TM. My dad is 73 and still rides his Valkyrie whenever the snow isn't on the ground. My first ride was on the tank of his Triumph T-110 when I was three years old. We've been partners in crime ever since...riding is definitely a great thing to share.
