I know this is a limited segment, but of those fortunate few that have this beautiful machine, any regrets?

I'll let you know when they figure out whats wrong with my bike. Current stay at a shop is 3 weeks. Last part waiting and not arrived is going on 8 weeks, and first stay was 6 weeks.
Nice looking bike, rides well for a fat arsed rider like myself.hehehe

I'm not one to throw the towel in early, but haven't you been chasing this issue for a while. Being in the business for over 25 years, CA has a quite robust lemon law. I would think at this point you'd be able to negotiate a replacement.

No regrets so far @ 2788 miles as of today.

Pro's

Lots of power for a boxer, superb chassis / suspension,
excellent brakes (do not have ABS). super finish.

Con's

Very noticable flat spot around 5,500 rpm, runs extremely lean,
parts availability

The only thing that really bothers me is the constant popping
and backfire. It got worse over the last couple hundred miles,
might need a TB synchronization.

Or a refund, probably close to 100% of the original purchase price, including tax & license. I know a good Lemon Law attorney. Seriously. 30 days in the shop and it should be a slam dunk. Then pick up a used one for $18K (or whatever) and buy me something nice with the leftover change.

No regrets at all. Wouldn't own anything else at the moment.

Well maybe one. If it's your only motorcycle, you may want a rear seat. However, that's nothing really.

No regrets ... only for waiting so long (14 months ... )
did just 3000 km's and still going strong

Best thing I've done is putting on a Rapid-bike !
no flat spots at 5.500 rpm
no hesitation by idling
Oh ... yeahhh the most beautiful thing is the sound from the full Akra

Still have to go on the dyno ... for the last fine tuning

I love this bike. I bought this bike last September. I have 9162 miles on it now. The Bike is a dream to ride. The only problem was the battery. It was replace at 8k miles under warranty.

Hi,

how much did you pay for the full system and the Rapid Bike?

If you haven't had it dyno tuned yet, what map are you using?
Does the Rapid Bike Module come with generic maps or how does this work?

Also does the Rapid Bike connect to the O2 sensors or are they just disconnected.

Thanks!

Sounds pretty good so far. I guess if you have a problem right now you really have a problem. To bad they do not get the dealers on line before they introduce the bike and have parts available.

My experience is that very little in the way of parts is "on hand" at dealers or even in the country. Just about everything is shipped from Germany, if they have it. I suppose with the short shelf life of some models, it's to be expected. 2006-2007 for the R12S, 2005-2007 for the R12ST (I think), makes part stocking and/or re-supply a little tenuous. My friend who had a relatively minor tumble on his Ducati ST3, plastic, rear brake lever, front brake lever, virtually everything had to shipped from Bologna-the dealer had zero on hand and the distributor had zero on hand. I would imagine R1100/1150/1200GS parts are somewhat more available with their lion share of the volume.

This is very much the case with the HP2S, right down to the torx bolts that hold the rear CF taillight piece.

Neat thing about bolts is the company Fastenal.
They have a bolt in just about every size, type, finish, etc.
The only downside is, you generally can't buy one. But the more esoteric bolts like Torx, you can often get away buying 10 and for sometimes less than a couple of bolts at the dealer.

the bike is in the shop for inspeciton check up. They found problems and the bike is being given back to them or legal action,(lemon law lawyer) will be next.
I have no other option.

i thought you had already gotten past that point? didn't you say you had an SKRR on order and were going to add a used GS along with it in compensation for your returned HP2S?

At this point, you don't strengthen your position by waiting-the longer you have it, the more it indicates you were finding it "acceptable and usuable". They will probably want to "charge" you for the miles accumulated on your bike. Meaning, let's say, you put 5,000 miles on it. They will equate that usage with the position that you received that use of the bike and want you to pay the difference vs. full value. Your attorney should be able to handle that, especially if the miles are low.
Are you going to go for replacement or refund?

Jeff- call Michael Saunders at (858) 272-9988. He's batting 1000 for everything I've seen him handle. Doesn't cost you anything- he'd get paid by BMW. Don't know about motorcycles, but with cars you get pro-rated against a 120,000 mile lifespan from when the problem first appeared. For example, if your first problem was brought to the dealer's attention at 1,200 miles, you'd get a 99% refund.
