Lennie's Sprockets

Can anyone point me to a video of the installation of Rocket Sprockets.
I'm sure I have seen one somewhere.
Thanks in advance if you can help.

It's really not that bad. The directions are pretty easy to follow. Just go slow and methodically.

The hardest part of the job is to loosen the sprocket bolt. Everything else is just following carefully the instructions.

I've done quite a few of them and it really isn't that bad.

Jobs now done and there is a noticeable change in the engines behaviour for the better.

Yes - I remember when I did mine. It's a different bike after.

if you read the instructions and take your time and do one side at a time it is quite straight forward.

the result just makes the bike more fun to ride.

enjoy all

I remember having serious palpitations when the sprocket bolt let go with a CRACK! that sounded like thunder.

Yes, When you hear that sound on the first bolt, you wonder if you haven't just broken it... Much less stress for the second one.

Kenmoore, can you please describe the change you're seeing in the how the engine behaves? It must be significant if it turns the R1100S into a "different bike", as Jay K. stated. Is your bike otherwise stock?

The change is that the bike has more grunt down low and will pull a taller gear. It appears to respond better to mild.throttle inputs.The.bike has a Remus exhaust , decat, electronic Kjet and upgraded injectors. It had a K&N filter however I replaced that with a standard one. All around a much more.tractable bike. Appears to run smoother with less vibration. That could be because I did the plugs, valves and throttle body sync.
I would highly recommend Lennie's Rocket sprockets. Fuel economy is better as well!

the whole idea of the Rocket Sprockets is to apply cam timing changes to the BMW.

I tested the advancing of the cam timing 3 degrees at a time on the dyno and stopped at 9 degrees.

What this does is open and close the valves earlier lower the torque peak by 800 to 1,000 rpms depending on the model.

This means that the torque is moved to a more useable range and you can shift at lower rpms and not need to downshift on the highway.

I hope you all enjoy the way they liven up the BMW to make them more fun to ride.

Hi Lennie. I enjoyed your sprockets on my previous S very much and I may purchase a set for my new one one day or another...

So really if your using the higher RPM range it wouldn't be advisable?

Pretty much, I've always used my S that way. Back in the day there were many arguments against them by those of us who like the top end power, All my power is up top & revving it out is so much fun in the twisties. I've got a 12GS for low grunt work.

Buzz,

When I did back to back dyno tests, I lost 1.8 rwhp on the dyno with the Rocket Sprockets so not sure you will notice when you are revving to the redline.

You can get that back if you grind the internal welds in the header pipes at the head end and the rear.

I used to run 4,000 to 8,000 rpms in 4th gear on the open roads here in Australia and had lots of torque accelaratiing out of corners.
