Help! Which plastic pipe to fuel regulator is "in"
So close, but the bike won't start, the fuel pump sounds funny, and the plugs are dry. I think I may have reversed the fuel lines when I installed the QDs.
Which of the two black plastic pipes to the fuel regulator is the input? Once I know that I can find out in 2 sec if I'm right, and ust swap teh QDs, but I'll be dipped if I can find it in the Clymers or factory manuals. Help ASAP! I'm so close! N.

I've gotten in the habit of taking lots of pictures during tear-down because if this kind of thing.
This picture shows the Fuel Tank laying on its side on the RH Cylinder (rag underneath). ![]() This picture shows the Fuel Lines and you can see the upper one is the shorter of the two. ![]()

The problem was that the QD on the lower (which I now know to be the fuel supply) was 1/8" from clicked, and so no flow. Once I stripped the plastic and fiddled with it I found it, clicked it home, and lo and behold, it fired right up, and after clearing it's throat for a few minutes, it ran fine! Awesome! So I went for a ride! And it quit - but then it restarted! And the low fuel light was on because I had so little fuel in it, so I took it to a gas station and it took 3.66 gallons, and then fired right up. So I thought - "Perhaps I just ran out of gas". So I took it out to the highway for a bit of an Italian tuneup. And it ran fine! Until it quit, but I was able to glide off my exit, and push it for a short distance, glide it down the hill to my friendly neighborhood gas station, and I just fetched it with my trailer. The fuel pump is silent now when I turn the key. When I was troubleshooting it before I realized the QD was not connected, it was making a rather growly, gravelly noise. Not like the machine-ey sound my GS fuel pump makes. So: Given that I cranked it with the QD shut for 2-3 minutes off and on, could that be the coup de grace on a fuel pump with 57K miles? As I say, it's dead silent wen I turn the key - I haven't put it on the GS911 to see if it's reporting a fault yet, but I will. Could it be a fuse? Advice welcome. I am annoyed at myself and a little discouraged right now. N.

I'd make sure the Electrical Connector terminals to the Fuel Tank are not corroded - they tend to get that way after some time/miles.
