Well, they are getting harder to find as there was only one year.. And the price is going up, up, up for a good one...

Or is that down, down, down....

Wholesale (trade-in value) is $6,545 max, top-end retail is $8,615. FYI, this is a dealership bike, not an individual seller.

Yeah, I expect prices to rise on this bike. The best reasonably-priced sporty bike that BMW ever imported and it lasted only 1 year.

I too think prices will rise on the R12S and the HP2's as they're both the high marks of the air cooled sports twins, making them forever the purists choice. I would seriously not be a seller in this market, as in a decade I think they'll really be worth something, and in 20 years I think they'll be worth a lot.

By the way, I just did a national Craigslist search for BMW r1200s and found at least four. Black, silver, yellow... 7,000 miles or so. None of the ultra rare magma red/silver however. If you don't know how to do a national search just type craigslist national into any search engine.

It seems, now that several years have passed, that you can find bikes with nice exhausts, bags, other options for really good prices. Or, pure stock too. You might think about what you want/need.

hey Steve, how did I miss that you bought a K13S? I thought you were going to buy an HP2S.

What do you have in mind, everything is for sale. just under 16,000 miles, very clean, well maintained, garage kept, Ohlins, heated grips, wide rear wheel, no ABS.

Received my red/silver R1200S last week. Didn't know they were ultra rare. Would have gone with a silver one too if it had ABS. That would have saved me waiting 6 weeks for @#$@# Haul Bikes to ship my bike. For some reason, the silver looks so much better than on an R1100S...

Mine was a few miles short of 13k. Put a total of 760 miles on the first three rides. I'm already scheduled for an oil change next Friday. I've seen bikes between 6k and 18k miles, which is low mileage for boxers.

I'd put more weight on upgrades than actual miles driven.

Good luck finding a R1200S. It's really a worthy upgrade from a R1100S (or a R1100RS in my case).
