HP2 Sport GD Exhaust Header
I know I am late to the party on the HP2 Sport, but I just got through ordering and installing a GD Exhaust header on the HP2 Sport from FosterRad.
Motorfietsen | GD Exhaust Performance Robert Foster took great care of me, gave me a great discount, and included reprogramming my ECU, Thanks Robert. GD Performance BMW HP2 Sport Performance Header & Collector Kit | Laser Exhaust Systems Bike is much smoother and runs great with the new Header and ECU update, I did not see much on this update, mostly posts about the Akra, this is a nice option to keep the stock muffler and look.

The anti-gravity machine seems to be working just fine. I thought you were in Oz for a minute.

Interesting, I was looking at that as an alternative. how much is the header and do you notice any sound difference compare to stock?

Tubing looks to be larger diameter.

It is difficult to tell from the photo if the cross over tube has been eliminated.
Can you show another angle more from the front? Are the tubes the same diameter or have they been enlarged versus stock?

There is no crossover tube they are directly connected. The akra ti header is smaller diameter than the stocker, if the exhaust isn't restrictive a smaller diameter means higher velocity and better scavenging (in general).

I looked at the other images but could not determine if the tubes that were touching had been sectioned to make and X-pipe.

The system has a crossover in the Y pipe where the header pieces connect, the tubing size is the same as stock, it is in 6 pieces. Give Robert a call on Pricing, it's a nice clean install the bike runs great, the sound is a nice rumble, it is very quite, much quieter than my R1200S with the Remus header and laser exhaust, I don't think it's really much louder than stock. Robert told me the units are built in lots of 10, and if he is out of stock there is about a 6 week lead time. I will post some bike pics as soon as I charge my cameria back up.

In the pic posted above by Nail where the Y pipe pieces are welded together there is a oblong hole inside between the two pieces about a 1.5" long and 1" wide that acts as the cross over.

So, it does eliminate the CAT/First silencer and has a fitting for the O2 sensor. Shreddr, do you have any thoughts on the design of the X-over opening? Jeff will say, "It's TIME for BIG BORE!!!"

It looks nice on the bike, I like that crossover design better than the tube on my Akra or the stock pipe but I can't comment on whether its better or worse, I can only assume its necessary as they all seem to have it, although the HPE on my R12S didn't. I will say that the hole between those 2 pipes is a lot bigger than the ones in the stocker and Akra, I also wonder if having the deadspace between the connection has some sort of damping effect, kind of like the "boost bottles" that were the intake rage in the 80's.
if you are going to keep the stock muffler this is a good solution, but if you are going to replace the whole system the titanium Akra is probably the way to go and will shed 10 pounds. RE: Big Bore, there's no replacement for displacement!

Hi,
I support JT's input....the upgrade made a nice and noticeable difference without any previous “Power Blip” (for lack of a better word). Power now comes when you want it. I got this unit from Nigel of Sandbar whom was very supportive and knowledgeable. Pipes was shipped to Thailand was relatively easy to install however for my case additional modification was required to ensure pipe are aligned to the original specification of the OEM. Not sure JT or others have similar experience. Anyway…this is the best way to go for me to retain its ultra cool look. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

damn that looks sexy -- wonder if it would fit the R12S? Looks like oil changes just got a bit more complicated ...
