OT Ducati Streetfighter S 1098

I am really interested in getting a Ducati Streetfighter S the one with the 1098 engine. Curious if anybody on board has one or has had one that can comment.

I have one and it is pretty amazing. I just recently compared it back to back with my newly acquired KTM Superduke 1290 R. Surprisingly (to me at least), is that my lap times at my local track were just about a second faster on the Ducati.

The engine is really strong and flexible. Lots of power throughout a pretty wide rev range. The suspension and handling of the bike is at least as good as the KTM.

It's also pretty comfortable for day and weekend rides.

Great info thanks. Can you comment on the reliability and service. Can you do your own maintenance?

Sorry, I don't do much maintenance. I've only got 3000 or so miles on it, I use it mostly for track days, and occasionally lend it to a friend for day rides. I've just been getting oil and tire changes on it so far. Its been problem free though and has been easy to own.

My last two Ducati's (multistrada and hypermotard) had about 25K miles between the two of them, and had a couple recall services, but nothing outrageous.

I'm much more concerned with the KTM having issues. Read about so many problems with rear hubs, porous casings, and warped brake rotors....

What year 'tard and which engine?
I have the '12 EVO SP 1100. Love its torque & sitting position.
So amazingly nimble.

Mine was the air cooled '09 1100 and really just the budget one. Silver forks and nothing fancy but it was a very good bike. Underseat Termi exhaust was going to permanently take my hearing away if I kept it much longer.

I would say I struggled at the track on that bike, always needing to shift mid corner - running out of revs. Not always easy to grab the shift leaned over hard (for me at least). Guess that's just how that bike is geared. It seemed like less of a problem on my friend's Monster 1100 of a similar year.
