Any R11S contacts/riders/tuning in South Africa??
Hi guys, just poking my head into the forum again. Wanted to know if there's anyone out there that's in South Africa or can help a Saffa out with parts for my R11S BCR.

eBay may be an idea.
I have read that the Chinese cat pipes are good quality. Seen some on the UK eBay. Lenny will sell you the sprocket direct. There are a few different belly pans around. German eBay "bug spoiler" will yield a few. Stock levels are run down now for carbon. Hard to find. |

came here to say your "05 BCR" looks reeeeally hot with the low '99 suspension.
for at least the ohlins and lennie's bits you will probably have to get them new or from this website. which carbon bits ya looking for?

Hi guys, thanks for the responses.
@Alfa145V6: I've got a vd Linde system, so no cat really (technically). In my garage pic, you'll notice the vd linde bubble where the cat pipe used to be. The system is really smooth and gruntier than stock, so happy as a clam on that front. Also I'm on the german ebay.de and there are a lot of parts there I've seen. Will just need to trawl, and apart from that I found hornig.de a great dealer for parts, albeit having to pay heafty import costs to SA. @darkonaut: thanks dude. Its actually coming together slowly. It's now got the handlebar mirrors, shortened paralever (so it sits a bit higher now and I got a lot better steering response obviously) a nice fat 5.5 rear, and a now just looking to clean it up a bit. I've removed the rear indicators and licence plate holder, and replaced with LED and a plate-holder which will sit on the housing of the rear axle. I'll post pics in a week or two when my rear wheel comes back from the workshop (needed a re-spray). Also going to polish the exhaust end to end. Looking for a front carbon mudguard - I must be honest I prefer the aftermarket ones than the original (as that was only the front piece). Germans are retailing for 250 odd euro, so hopefully I can find one for a bit cheaper. Also looking for carbon engine covers and considering carbon indicator light fairings. All available aftermarket, but damn they come with a heafty pricetag. @tanneman: I've been randomly asking around, trying to see what and who is still out there (if any). I saw a really interesting sale the other day, and I was foolishly thinking of just calling the bank to ask for money hahah. At least puts Saffas on the map when it comes to the R1100s: https://www.olx.co.za/ad/bmw-r-series-flat-twin-r1100s-pre-production-model-ID16fQE5.html#fc3e72c33d I mean, 1989! wow. |
