Sounds like a swarm of mad bees

Attended the race in Daytona. Weather sucked but all in all, it was a fun weekend. 2200 miles in 5 days, too much beer to remember and damn all of the traffic!

While watching the race, we were located right behind the wishbone part of the track so we had a great view from on top of the whinnie. As the pack would go by, it sounded like a swarm of mad bees.....that low deep rumble....oh sounds so good. Repoe and I had our SBX's parked in front of the whinnie and you wouldn't believe how many people would stop and look/point at our bikes.

Lotta fun. Only saw a limited num ber of S's in Daytona........

That's what we thought of the sound too! I just watched it on TV for the first time today at noon. The sound was really quite muffled on Speed. They never even showed the fellow that wiped out and was out cold on the track, nor did they mention that incident at all until the other rider hit the air wall a lap or so later. I would still like to know what happened with the first guy because we were looking the other way when that happened. It was amusing to see again when the one bike decided to continue on sans rider. That was right in front of where we were sitting.

I only rode my S to the track once. With all the rain it was just a PITA, so I hopped on the back of my hubby's LT after that. I didn't see many others either, but we also never made it to the infield. Hopefully next year will be better.

Bike week will be from Feb 27 - Mar 7, 2004. Which means the Daytona 200 and presumably the Boxer Cup will be on that Sunday, March 7th. When they interviewed Tom Pluczinsky (sp?) during the Boxer Cup, he sounded pretty positive about them coming back next year, but didn't know for how many years...
