I remember when those came out they were cool. But I think the R1100S has held up better as far as it's charisma.

On the other hand, you could buy it for $5,000 and then maybe sell it for $2,500 in a couple years so it won't cost that much...

It's just..... Ugly? Too masculine? Looks like something from Mad Max?

I have a thing for unique cars and bikes, but it does nothing for me.

Is more unusual and a little simpler.

I loved my Griso so much I bought a Stelvio. :-0

Anyone who thinks a production MC is an investment that will pay a return in $s is mostly a fool.

I had a trip to Seattle anyway so I think I will be stopping by the shop to look. Low miles and they say it is as clean as it looks in the pics. Always wanted a Goose in the garage. Makes the fat German girls jealous to have a fat Italian girl competing for attention.

Just what I'd have if I didn't already have an S, and I'd contend the looks have aged at least as gracefully as the R11S.

Almost pulled the trigger on a sweet Rosso Corsa a few years back. Yeah, it's slow and heavy but as pure garage porn, it's hard to beat. Always had a thing for Italian bikes, especially the older '70's and '80's Mandello del Lario offerings. You'll regret passing it up.

Ha! Of course! Fool's kind of strong though. Some people have different priorities though, and lately it seems the priority on the board has been how little people pay for something.

You'll note that I'm not one of the ones here that actually worries about price on any purchases. I get beat up plenty on resale or trade in. New R1100S, R1200S... I subscribe to the Dr. Curve motto "It's only mere money." If I can't afford it today, I figure in another week or two of work then I'll have the money.

Dont forget about the Griso, very underrated. Just make sure the tappet recall has been
done on the 8 valve engines older than 2012 1/2.

Hmmmm...Guzzi. IMO

Some are pretty, others - actually perform relatively well - for a Guzzi. I've slung a leg over, and beat-up on, lap after lap - on what many feel is the holy grail of the venerable V-2.

An MGS-01

Was I impressed?...ummmmm. No. My '03 Aprilia RSV Mille left it for dead. EVERYWHERE.

Here's some more on the UberGuzzi I posted here a bit over three years ago. Post #23 onward....

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/bmw-r1100s-r1200s-tech-forum/817864-r12s-weight-developments-applied-r11s-2.html

I reckon they're okay though. I'd take one over an HD...Had a couple of those in my life too...Live and learn.

J.S.

I looked at a 86 Lario last week. Too beat up, needed most everything reworked, all plastic had cracks, carbs needed rebuilding, dent in tank, no rear brakes, old tires, dead battery... stuck to $2k price.

Yeah maybe fool is a bit harsh. Yes I I am a subscriber to your original analysis. So it cost me $4,500 ish. I ride it for 30k miles. That's a mere $0.15 per mile less maintenance. If it puts even as much as 1/2 the smile on my face as the other bikes in the garage well worth it.

Test ride this Saturday. What the hell.

Curious to hear what you think of the test ride. I love my Griso.. the Stelvio just a great tool for distance and two up with tons of space and luggage room.

After riding the Guzzi for a while the R11 / R12 .. I end up looking down to see if the motor is still turning !! The Guzzi's quite a bit more throbbing from the built in asymetry of the V.

Griso goes pretty good. Certainly equal to the R1100S, but an Aprilia is apples and oranges.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Test ride on Saturday. Then I get to go to the ball game at Safeco Field but the best part is the rain has cleared to ride up to Seattle. Slab my way up and take all day Sunday to take the back roads home. If I buy take the train up the following weekend to take more back roads home. Might be the last rides of a low miles season.

Moto International is a cool, cramped old-school city shop. Good folks, and you could make an A/B comparison with an Aprilia while you're at it.

Full disclosure... I have never ridden one.... I have always wanted one. There were a couple of special model Le Mans, the Tenni, the Coppala, the Nero Corsa. Some of them came with full Ohlins too.

Tenni that sold:

2002 Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans Tenni | eBay

Nero Corsa that didnt sell:

2004 Moto Guzzi Le Mans | eBay

My current ride (Tuono) is strictly a single seat bike. I would love to find a Le Mans closer to home to have for two up.
