Bolts for Ilmberger Hugger

Is there a proper length factory bolt that I can use to properly install the rear wheel hugger? If so, please list the part number. If not, what are the best bolts to use in the application? Thanks in advance.

I've had no problem with the standard OEM fillister head screws (M8x30). Part #33117686682, about $2-3 ea. Recall someone carefully removing the encapsulated washer with a dremel. I don't think it's significant enough to matter, just ensure they are torqued up to spec.

30Nm. No thread-locking compound specified in oem repair manual for these screws.

Btw, you didn't specify which bike. Beware my reference was to R12S, so you should cross check the same!

I had one of those & after my friends telling me it was flexing all over the place when at speed in the mountains I ejected it for a shock sock from Ohlins to keep the crud off my shock. It works perfectly, shock still looks new & it weighs nothing in comparison and I prefer the open look without the hugger. Mine came with longer bolts with wider tapered aluminum washers. When I removed it you could see where it had contacted the rear tire on both sides. So depending on how you ride may make the difference between good or bad farkle.

Application is a 2004 BCR.

@sgoodwin - I read the threads about the failures of the earlier model. This one is a 2006 production and was installed at some time prior to my acquisition. No marks on the inside or stresses at the mounting arm. Just out of curiosity, do you mind putting up a pic of the shock sock on your bike? Thanks

You can see it just behind the heat guard. I don't have a good pic of it but it's a Velcro on sleeve that wraps the shock except for the reservoir & preload. "Ohlins" in big white banner is aimed forward. Some warned me my shock would overheat with it on but I've never noticed it even during rapid transit mode. It does hide that gorgeous yellow spring though.

Here's the other side, you can see how it hides the shock.

I have a few stainless steel torx head screws (M8x35). I needed three of them for my R1200S hugger installation and ended up having to buy a pack of 10.

Let me know if you think these would work.

Shouldn't the bolt be longer by the width of the hugger attatchment area? Approx 10mm?
Or there will that amount less holding the rear caliper on. Non?

Hey JR, thank you for the offer but I'm afraid that 35 mm might be a tad too long. I believe that 30mm to be the correct length.

5mm? Put a larger washer under it to spread out the support. Or visit Harbor Freight for a $1 hacksaw.
