3rd Brake Light Connector
Would any know know the Bosch number for this connector? I am making a flashing LED replacement light. First go ground I am making an LED board to replace the 7 lamps with a flasher in line with the harness. I would rather not cut the harness. Thanks.

1999.
I found a connector on BMotorsports that looks the same, ordered a couple to try. Not Bosch, used on Japanese cars which might be plausible since the Boxster was the bottom of the line model. The lamp shell only has the Porsche number for the shell as the connector is molded as part of it. |

I was right, the connectors from Ballenger Motorsports fit the third brake light.

Made up an LED board with 14 0.33W red LEDs 7150 mcd each. 12V 3W incandescent bulbs have about 2 mcd. Of course, not all the light from an incandescent is pointed toward the red lens and wavelengths other than the lens are filtered out.
I was going to make a flasher for it but found one from SuperBrightLEDSs for $5. I cannot make it for that. It flashes rapidly, then three times, then steady. Technically not what the rules call for (up to four times in four seconds). The board plugs in to three of the lamp sockets. ![]() ![]() (yes, two of the incandescent bulbs are out) Many of the available w3w LED bulbs have the LEDs facing sideways which is useless in this application. Now I have to find the grommet where the wires go through the chassis. |
