Schnell Short Shift Kit Bushings Won’t Fit

I purchased the Schnell SSK to install in my 2008 Boxster S, but I can’t seem to get the bushings to fit in the housing. I lined up the slot on the bottom, but it won’t even go far enough in to reach that. Even tried tapping with a hammer. I MIGHT be able to force it in by hitting harder with the hammer, but all the videos I’ve watched, people have been able to just push it in with their hands so I’m not sure what’s wrong with the bushings I received. Is it possible that I was sent the incorrect size? The kit I ordered says it fits my car (Part #: PEL-SSS1).

Have you tried lubing them with silicone spray?

Yes, the bushings just seem too big. Aside from taking the entire housing out and hitting them with a decent amount of force (which doesn’t seem normal), I don’t foresee them fitting.

I am interested in any replies. I just received the same shift kit in the mail and i am contemplating the install. Directions that were included were for a 986.

I ordered a second kit to see if I just got defective bushings. Nope. Second one didn’t fit either. I ended up having to go with the Evo short shift kit, which is, as far as I can tell, the exact same thing, just black, and $100 more 🙄. That one fit though. Bushings slid right in.

As far as the install goes, here’s the video I used for help: https://youtu.be/-FnSg1YH_M0

Good luck! Happy to help if I can with any other questions,
