99 Base 986 Broken Throttle Cable

Well, I'm about to learn more about my 1999 Base Boxster... the throttle cable broke just short of the pedal. Looks like it was misaligned and sawed it's way through the metal guide.

First impression is that it's going to need a replacement. Any experience, thoughts, ideas, instruction. links, or encouragement would be much appresh.

well, the good news is that i've actually found a site that acknowledges there is a front cable and a rear cable. they don't list the front cable but they do list the rear cable... which implies that there is, in fact, a front cable... which everyone seems to ignore when posting parts for sale. There's lots of "accelerator cables" & "throttle cables" for sale- they just neglect to mention they're the "rear portion throttle cable". so far i've yet to find a "front portion". even the Porsche pats catalog i've got completely ignores it... gives parts numbers to virtually every piece of the car except the one i need...

it's looking like i'm going to have to make a 200 mile drive to a wrecking yard outside Austin, Tx where rumour has it a guy is parting out 40 boxsters of varying years. not something i had on my list of things to do... but it's looking like i've little choice. what i have isn't repairable. well, it is, i suppose... i could use what I have and build my own cable, maybe... and will if i absolutely positively have to.

You might try DC auto. They’re Porsche recyclers in NC. These guys have everything!

I appreciate the pointer- have to keep them in mind for my next project. I called the place in Bastrop and he's the coolest guy ever. Woody's Parts. Sold it to me for an unbelievable price... said he's never sold one before so I was basically paying for the labor and shipping. Completely impressed with his ethic. Dropping in the mail today and said I should have it tomorrow or the next day.
