suspension noise on 1999 Boxster 986
I have changed the struts but still have a "thud" noise every time I hit any kind of bump, crack, etc. Also changed out the bushings but still that "Clunk". Anyone out their had similar or familiar with other solutions?

I replaced the trailing arms, the drop links, the control arms and the toe links with no effect. I replace the shock assembly for the side that made the noise and VOILA, no more clunk.

How does one check struts/springs?

someone else should answer this. I just guessed that the noise was coming from the struts since I had replace all else. I really don't know how to check. Even after jumping up and down on my rear end the car did not indicate a bad shock.

Take the strut out and put it on a shock dynamometer. Any circle track mechanic will have one (at least any competitive one does).
