More legroom for 2000 986
I've been reading all over about tips to find a it more legroom om the 986. I sat in a 987 and thought wow! I think I could have moved the seat up a notch or 2 while driving.
Not so with the 986. I did install risers on the front bolts and that did give me more thigh support at the cost of a tiny bit of less seat recline. So, I'm not totally there. Yes, heard about GT3 seats and console delete, but before going there I thought I'd ask about something I saw only once in he reading session: raising the entire seat. It seems this person believes that if the whole platform is raised that the original incline maximum will return due to the rearward slant of the bulkhead. My wife is 5'3" and I'm 6'1" with a 32 size inseam. She would benefit more if I raised the rear as much as I did the front. I don't remember exactly how much, but let's say 1.25" with an appropriately longer grade 8 bolt. Not a stack of washers either, I'm not that stupid. The is not an S so the seats are only 2-way adjustable and I'm fine with that if I can get the seating position of the base in a way that the back becomes useful again. Headroom is not a problem for me and of course she would be better off sitting higher. The thing is, so may comments mentioned going lower by various means. Am I missing something there? Before you ask, there is nothing in the pocket behind the seat. I just don't enjoy driving the car because of the seating accommodation. The position of the steering wheel has nothing to do with this, It's fine. |

We've got a 2000 986 as well and I am 6'1, 31in inseam, and on the bulkier side of things. I struggled with legroom as well but never added seat risers. We did do the GT3 console delete shortly after getting the car 15yrs ago, and not having the corner of the lower console rub on the outside of my shin made a huge difference in comfort. Don't get me wrong, after all these years I'd still really like another inch in rearward adjustment, but not sure where to get it from.
