Can you provide me with an alternative ATF fluid for my Boxster Tiptronic and how much oil I will need to change the oil and filter.

Trust me on this: Bite the ****ing bullet and get the Pentosin 1. I don't want to be reading a post from you *****ing about how your Tip failed because you wanted to save $5 a quart. It isn't a Honda. Wake up, you knew what you were getting in to.

Finally, if you can write, you can read. So do it. The information and specs are out there (by out there I mean covered a million times upon OTHER, more robust 986 forums).

Report back.

I would second the opinion to stick with the recommended Pentosin ATF 1.

Here is a good reference from Pelican. Also check YouTube of course.

You may find that more than 5 liters are required after draining. Note that it is not possible to drain an automatic completely. The amount you will need to put it will be determined by following the procedure and heating the trans to proper temps. There is a fill plug and a drain plug. The position of the fill plug placement is at a level that when full, fluid leaks out indicating that you have filled completely. This is why adherence to the fill temperatures are so important.
