2011 Cayman Headlight replacement

:)

A friend had a minor fender bender with his 2011 Cayman (his fault) and the Right Headlight was damaged beyond only the lens.

He has asked me what model year Boxster/Cayman headlights will fit.

New are extremely costly and he wants to buy used.

Can anyone offer some advice?

2011 is a 987.2 but I believe the 987 series from 2006 to 2012 were the same. Check the part numbers for ‘06 and 2012. If they are the same it means they are interchangeable. Make sure you check the correct side, as right and left will have a different number.
Don’t forget the 987 Boxster’s as well. It doesn’t have to be Cayman only. They are expensive, even used.

Thank you Tony.

The Part Numbers seem to change over the model years, even though they look the same.

The 987 lights look like the 987.2 models.

Does anyone know the range of years that are interchangeable?

Still looking for this info.

My friend does not want to buy one that does not fit, as used parts sometimes cannot be returned.

Anyone know of this interchangability?

The part numbers are not the same between Caymans 987.1 (2006-2008) and 987.2 (2009-2012):

987.1 (2006-2008)
987 631 163 21 (L)
987 631 164 21 (R)

987.2 (2009-2012)
987 631 165 21 (L)
987 631 166 21 (R)

I would give these guys a call/text/email for used parts: https://specializedgerman.com/ (no affiliation, just a satisfied customer)

Boxster/Cayman headlight of 2009-2012 use same part numbers so you can use either headlight interchangeably.
