E brake cable removal
 
I'm installing new rear wheel bearings and axels .. I've got everything off except the e-brake cable.. Anyone have any advice ?? can't seem to get the cable out far enough to remove the pin ..

Thanks. So, my comments relate to my 03, but it should likely be the same for your 01.

You will have to disassemble the parking brake assembly in order to disengage the cable from the actuating mechanism. Who’d have thought that in 2023, you’d have to wrestle with drum brake components (adjusters, springs and all the rest), but you do.

Tom, I"ve taken those components off already ,, still can't get the cable to the point to un-do the cable. I am wondering if I need to rip apart the whole console to loosen the cable ? ?

Ah. So, if all the parking brake components are off the car, you “just” need to pull the cable off the back of the hub. There is a small stub (#21 in the attached) which is affixed to the backing plate, and the cable slips into it. Corrosion may or may not make that a challenge.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1686605090.png
