Oil level sensor replacement
 

I recently changed the oil on my 2000 boxster s . I added nine quarts, started the engine and let it run for a few minutes, shut it off and let it sit for 10 minutes and then turn the ignition on to see if I needed to add another quart. However, the onboard meter did not register any oil (no bars). Checking by dip stick showed nearly full.

The car actually sat empty (without oil) overnight. I am wondering if that would have somehow damaged the sensor and if I need to replace the sensor can anyone direct me to a thorough service article for the job?

Sometimes the level sensor takes some time to acclimate to the oil change, particularly if it sat without any oil overnight. And you really do not want to have to change the sensor, the intake has to come off to get it out...........

Thanks JFP, for that reply. I will give it some time to adjust and hopefully it will remedy itself.. I haven't driven the car since the oil change, it is still up on stilts waiting for another part replacement to arrive on another minor project. Thanks again for your thoughts.
