Backdating to cable throttle body on 2002 3.2 Boxster S
I know this seems like an odd thing to consider, but NASA Super Touring rules give a bonus in HP/Wt. for cars that run a cable throttle body. This would allow as much as 9 more HP legally. Small, but significant. I have a '99 2.5 parts car. My plan is this:
Swap motor wiring harness and DME from '99 car to the 2002 3.2 Boxster S race car. Swap throttle pedal and cable from '99 to the '02 Get a 3.4 911 cable throttle body Get 3.4L ROW tune Win! Has anyone tried this?

No, but that sounds pretty cool. I bet you could test the concept first by seeing if cable TPS signal to the ECU is accepted. Before you go and change everything else.

Is the tradeoff HP for speed of throttle response?

No, it’s working with the rules. The rules allow a bonus in terms of HP/wt. in cars that have a cable throttle body. Right now I either have to detune a bit, or add ballast to stay within my prescribed HP/wt. The cable throttle body will just allow me to not limit HP, or take out ballast weight.

But why do they give you the allowance? It must be to equalize which means you must give up something in exchange? What do the lower HP cars have that yours doesn't in terms of functionality, not a simple metric like HP. Must be something?

An e-throttle body give you the ability to custom tune your HP curve to gain advantage in a HP/weight class. While I could try and massage that with a lot of custom tuning, I'd rather just have a higher peak.
