Interior door handle

My drivers door handle doesn't return, and the window doesn't go up. I am wondering if it's the window regulator, or the door opening mechanism. Anyone else have this issue?

Broken door handle tab possibly. If you push the door handle in, does the window go up?

It is very likely the common "broken door handle pivot lever". If you can handle taking off the door card, order yourself one of these:

The connection of this new part to your old pull cable has changed but you can still make it work without much hassle.

Thanks for the information jlong. My daughter is having the same problem with her 07 Cayman. Can you elaborate on your comment about making it work without much hassle? Thanks in advance.

Hi Bob, you will find after purchasing the new door handle pivot lever, that the connection to the existing door pull cable is not the same as the part you will have just removed. Porsche changed the design of the door handle pivot lever requiring the purchase of a new door pull cable as well (only applicable if you asked Porsche to make the repair).

As a DIY job, this would make the work more difficult since it requires more disassembly around the door handle itself plus the purchase of another part. Don't fear because you CAN join the old door pull cable with the new door handle pivot by simply wedging the end into the new pivot connection. It has worked for me and others and while not ideal, will suffice for a relatively low-cost repair of this issue.

I have heard the door handle is reversible and could be switched with the opposite side door. The handle has two tabs and if you reverse them the good tab can be used? Or tell me I am completely off base.

It may be possible to flip the part that mounts to car, the one attached to the pivot lever, and use it on the opposite door but I find this tedious and not worth saving the $20 or so for the new part due to the amount of time it would take to remove the extra door card and disassembly of the pivot levers.

but, let us know if it works out as a confirmation!

Could you share the return spring part#?
Also, which of the many door trim removal tool kits from Pelican is recommended?
Thx

Update in 2025 the new return spring also requires an updated cable. In the process of replacing mine right now (it's a pain)
