🔧 Need Help Diagnosing Issue – High Idle & Fuel Smell (2004 Boxster)
Hey everyone,
I’m dealing with a strange issue on a 2004 Boxster and could use some insight. The car starts fine, but it’s idling unusually high (around 1500–1700 RPM), and there’s a noticeable fuel smell at idle. No CEL right now, but something is definitely off. Here’s what I’ve done so far: • Checked for vacuum leaks (found none, but open to re-checking weak spots) • MAF sensor cleaned • Throttle body cleaned • No obvious misfire • Fuel trims seem off (running rich) Car drives okay once warmed up, but that idle and fuel smell have me worried about running too rich or maybe an issue with the AOS, O2 sensors, or intake leak. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any suggestions on what to test next—maybe EVAP purge valve, intake boot, or a deeper dive into the MAF/O2 system? |
