981 Boxster roof drains

I'm accessing the roof drains around the air intake to clean them. Whats the recommendation with these? Should they be cleaned and replaced or just remove and leave them out so the drain pipe can free flow?

Are there more than the 2 on each side at the air intake for 4 all together?

OK, decided to leave the plugs out with just an open drain pipe.

Here's a video of how to access the area.

Here's the panel pulled away.

air intake bolts

drain plugs

dirty lower plug

open drain pipe, no plugs.

I knew there was a problem when after washing the car I drove up and down the street to shake off water and parked in the garage. After a few hours a puddle formed under the drainage area.
