help with new seats

I purchased a set of seats off of ebay they are form a 2001 996. I do not originaly have power seats. The new seats I purchased, I thought were 8 way power seats. I tried to install them today the passenger side went in just fine. However on the driver side the wiring harness does not have any power and ground hook ups. Now I am wondering if it is possibly a memory seat? does the power go through the memory control unit in the trunk release and then into the seat or am I missing a cable that plugs in some where? Can you hook up power memory seats and just bypass the memory and only use the power options? please help! how can I tell if I even have memory seats. I have a 2000 boxster.
