Getting serious about a second Porsche, need advise
I’ve had a 1988 Targa for the last 5 years and my wife has had a mini-van for even longer. As retirement age for the mini-van draws nearer, we have been getting serious about what to do. After deciding we don’t like SUV’s my wife suggested we buy a used Boxster (25K) for when she doesn’t have the kids and a cheap mini-van (20K) for when she does. I told her it is a brilliant plan (even though I know little about Boxsters, I’m learning fast) and we started shopping.
I got the call today, she wants to skip the mini-van and just buy the Boxster (found one less used than planned). She found a 2002 silver tiptronic with 12000 mile in show-room condition. The asking price is 34K. Seems fine via Kelly blue book, but I don’t have the market update from excellence (order the back copy Monday). The price seems high to me, but maybe the low miles are worth it. Questions: Go there now and buy it before someone else does? Hold out for one with more miles or now that we up to 34K hold out for an S? Is the price reasonable (it is at a Porsche dealer and comes with warrantee)? Anything I should look for in particular? Thanks -Steve
