boxster tires

Does anyone know if a 275/35/18 will fit on the rear of a boxster?
Thanks
Brian

I have an old list from last year and 265/35/18 is approved. The difference between 275 and 265 is not much.

It is? Approved by who? That is mildly surprising. The issue there isn't the width but the sidewall height. Porsche uses 265/40/18 in the rear. However, in going with a 35, you've decreased the diameter and circumference of the wheel. As such, I'd suspect a small deviation/inaccuracy in your speedometer. The question is the level of inaccuracy in the speedo. Bottom line, a 265/35 is not the correct size tire for the 18" wheel. Does anyone disagree?

Now to the orginal question, will a 275/35 work? The tire size in question will no doubt fit. I've never seen that size used/recommened (that doesn't necessarily mean anything). I'm guessing it will work out correctly, although I guess I'd have to do the calculation to be sure (too lazy right now). I'm guessing it's not a real common tire size (I could be wrong).

Approved by Porsche. It is a 10 page bulletin given to the dealers. It is called Summer Tire and Wheel Summary, dated March 26, 2004.

For 18" rear tires 265/35/18 is listed. For the front it is 225/40/18. These same sizes are listed in the 2000 Boxster owner's manual.

Where are you getting a 40 profile for the rear 18"?

Correction: I'm an idiot...ignore everything I say. The 40 is for the fronts. Is it Monday already?!?
