Windscreen Problems
Center (clear) windscreen will not stay latched at the bottom.
Any one with similar experience? Any suggestions for a fix? |
There should be a U shaped piece along the bottom for the screen to sit in.

Thanks but I don't see anything like a "U" shape. There are the two top latches on the sides, but they lock up fine. On the bottom there is a latch attached to the bodies frame, but there doesn't seem to be anything that matches or hooks to on the screen itself. This is a 2001 model. I am wondering if this is another years windscreen and therefore not likely to fit the same.
Thank again |

Gads hate to say things from memory. On the body in the center there should be a 2 inch wide by 1 inch tall plastic piece point upwards whichs fits into the bottom of the windscreen. This is probably the Lactch you see. This holds the bottom in place. You windscreen should have a black plastic piece along both sides and the bottom of it and an inudentation (slot) that matches the bottom latch. There is no u shaped pieces . I took a look at my 2002 S and this is how it is. NO memory this time. Mike |
Hey Thanks Mike. After getting your msg. I tinkered a bit more and figured out that as you have now replied, "latch fits under the windscreen not on top" I felt pretty stupid not figuring that out before. But, the guy that I bought it from must not have known either as he had it just setting in there with that latch exposed instead of under screen and told me "it just never fitted properly". I am totally new to Porsche much less anthing that was built outside of the USA. The next issue I am looking at is how do you get the trunk lid (since the release is powered) to get to a dead battery. I read somewhere that there is an outside access to the release cable. Have you heard that one?

do you have a manual for the car I think it is in there.
NOW watch out from memory again. I think you have to hook up a jumper battery to the fuse box or something like that. to get the front or even rear trunk open. I will take a look on this and post later if I find something mike |
Thanks again Mike. I did some good feedback on opening the trunk with a dead battery. There is a jumper lug in the fuse box to get power to the switch and wala, open the truck to get to the battery.
Fun car but catch heck from my GM Corvette buddies. Tho I see ton of vets on the road and only a few Boxsters. Have yet to see a Boster in Orient Red like mine. A really cool color. |
