2002 S Question

Looking at 2002 S with 19,000 miles. Manual with 18" wheels, stainless exhaust, new tires, all power options, and very very clean.

Wants $32,000.

Deal or no deal?

Little mileage... so is this thing broke in yet?

Most engine problems (major valve sleeves, etc) were fixed by 2002 werent they?

How much further is the Boxster going to drop in value over the next 24 months?

Thanks for input...

In February, I purchased a 2002 S with 8200 miles for $32,900. Car was in "like new" condition. All I have to say is that's alot of car for the money. Is it broken in? Yes and no. Engine is strong with no leaks, suspension tight; a wonderful car. I say go for it!
I've since invested in some extras, but they weren't necessary. My good friend also bought a 2002 S with 12k miles for $35000...mint. Best buys on the planet.

I had a 2002 986S. The car was a blast and I loved it. The one you are looking at is broken in. Any major defects (porus crankcase, etc) were worked out by then. You should get a pre-purchase inspection. The only problem could be the rear main seal. I dont see much more depreciation in the future. I say buy it and have fun driving it.

For another data point I purchased a 2000S with auto and well equiped for $28,000. The car has 39,000 miles. I could have bought a 2001S with 15,000 for $30,000 but the wife wanted a white one. I offered 30,000 for another with 7000 miles but he wouldn't go below 35k.
