new boxster in the family ?
hi everyone,
I'm usually on the 911 forum, but my dad is looking at a nice '01 boxster S. I am wondering what we should look-out for? The car has 61K miles,2 owners, records etc.The Owner says it will need rotors and a clutch in the future. What is the cost for a good shop to do a clutch replacement ? and i assume rotors/brakes wont be a shocker? thanks,Mark

Check out places like Pelican for a guide on price parts. I would expect a clutch to be about $500 in parts and another $500-700 in labor. So figure maybe $1500. Rotors and pads can be done by yourself, if you have a few tools and some confidence. I am sure a Dealer would charge you $1500 for a full brake job. Since the car is relatively new to you, I would "baseline" the car - fush brake fluid, new pads, maybe new rotors if worn thin or cracked... Airfilter etc.
It *should* have records of a 60K mile service which includes much of what I mentioned, but also the serpentine belt should be replaced.
