common boxster faults? purchase considered....
Hi all....wondering if there are common things to look out for when purchasing a used boxster? interested in '97-'99 and I'm seeing a lot for sale with 100k miles on them - going for pretty cheap (like $10-14k). Is there a magic number of miles to look out for? common failures? major work needed after xxx miles? any guidance would be very appreciated....td

'99 boxster
I am also in the Bay area and have a '99 Boxster for sale. I don't know if you got a car yet but mine is a 3 owner car (me being the third) with all the records since new. It has 118K miles on it and it runs great. I just changed the oil and filter and it is my daily driver. If you are interested in seeing it, email me at dalpor@earthlink.net. Thanks, Dean

common problem would be watching out for convertible arm rods.. its plastic and it breaks easily. another problem is that the brake and the clutch uses the same cylinder tank.. so if bleeding brakes, you must bleed the clutch too. thats all i know for now. i got a 97 boxster with 89k miles and it drives good. so i dont know if there is a magic number

common failure
the water pump is common to go out at 60K miles. but is not hard to replace nor is it that expensive to have done.
