sway bar bushings-??
I have a fairly severe front-end clatter over bumpy roads on my 2001 Boxster (37000 miles). My shop says it is the front torsion bar which has to be replaced because the integrated plastic bushings are worn and cannot be repaired ($600 part). Yet, Pelican sells OEM rubber bushings for this model, so I am wondering what'
s what. Does this model come with different kinds of bar? Is there a repair possibility if the shop is truthful? Noise from the rear may be increasing as well, so any money saving advice will be appreciated. Thank you. |

You're saying sway bar and torsion bar as the same description - you mean anti-sway bar bushings, right? Don't think you have torsion bars.
Integrated plastic bushings in an anti-sway bar?... that's new to me. do you have a photo? If it's a stock anti-sway bar, it doesn't have integrated bushings (rubber) and are easy and cheap to replace. A DIYer. I'm wondering about something else in the front end - any liquid coming down from the struts.... have you checked to see if everything is secure/not loose? Can you expand? I'm a little confused. This site has a PET and can expand on any part on the Boxster - you can drill down and see anything about the car. thanks, kj |

sway bar bushings-??
This is my third attempt at replying--doing something wrong!! Possibly a problem with Apple/Safari and this site..
No leakage. Possibly my shop meant drop links but then the price they quoted sounds outrageous. Do the drop links have integrated, non-repairable bushings? Thanks for trying to help! Here goes again... |

So you can get a little inside info..... go to the 'Welcome' page and look in the upper left hand corner and click on the parts list (PET) and then go to your 1997-2004 Boxster. Then, when the diagrams pop up, go to pages 116-122 and you'll see all the parts listed for your front end. Print them out and take them with you when talking to a shop or dealer and you'll be miles ahead when trying to visualize what they're talking about.
good luck, kj |

From what you have described, it sounds like you probably need to replace the bushing in the top of the front struts. I think this is a fairly common problem.
Part # 996 343 515 05 This thread has some good info. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=399920&highlight=strut Good luck.
